We transcribe recorded dictations using Express Dictation Software from NCH Swift Sound.  Whether you are using a digital recorder or recording directly onto your PC, just attach the digitally recorded file to an email message and send to us at info@jh-virtualassistant.com

The length of time taken to transcribe tapes and digital files can vary, and is dependent on the clarity and content of the recording, and the number of people speaking.

The following points should help to keep transcription time to a minimum:

• Speak clearly, slowly and at an audible level
• Record in a quiet environment if possible
• Spell out any technical words, names, etc.
• Start recording well before you speak.

We tend to speak around four times faster than we can type, so a 15 minute recording should take around one hour to transcribe,  based on one person speaking clearly and following the guidelines given above.  If the content is focus groups or meetings it can take six times longer to transcribe.
